Jackman Waffle Midneck

Jackman Brand Story: The Philosophy of Pure Color at the Fukui Factory

Japanese heavyweight and American heavyweight—how do they feel different? Most of the time, it’s not a matter of “which is better,” but how the factory thinks and how the fabric is woven.

Camber, Merz, and armi are already on the shelves. Jackman offers something else: garments sewn in-house in Fukui, with roots in baseball equipment. Tsutomu Tanabe opened the factory in 1949 with three knitting machines; the company later produced Japan’s first one-piece baseball socks and training wear for the Japanese team at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. The company calls itself あまのじゃく—perverse creation: defying conventional wisdom and refusing to take shortcuts to follow the seasons.
