armi × RAIDER: Wakayama Loopwheel Henley Neck —— Meeting Indigo Artisan Reita Moriya

armi × RAIDER

Why collaborate with armi on a natural indigo-dyed henley?

armi has always asked a very simple question: why do we wear clothes?
Their "HARD MAN" series is slowly woven on vintage loopwheel machines in Wakayama. They don't chase speed; they chase a daily essential that can be worn for a long time. The henley retains the relaxed feel of a T-shirt while adding a bit more texture than a crew neck. We chose natural indigo this time, hoping that this same basic piece could evolve over time.

The indigo dyeing process features the participation of Mr. Reita MORIYA, an "Aisaishi" (Indigo Plasterer) from Fujisawa.

About armi

Based in Kamakura, armi proposes the identi-T concept: turning unconscious dressing into conscious choices. Their products are proudly made in Japan.

The signature HARD MAN series is woven in Wakayama on vintage loopwheel machines at a speed of about one meter per hour. The slow process reduces stress on the yarn, making the fabric more durable and resistant to losing its shape. At approximately 9.7oz, it uses two different types of yarn for the face and back, double-knit to reduce twisting. The brand aims to challenge the perception that a "T-shirt is a consumable item."

This aligns with the direction RAIDER has always taken—not chasing trends, but crafting basics that can be worn for years.

About Mr. Reita Moriya

By combining traditional Japanese natural indigo with modern plastering techniques, he uses trowels to create deep, rich blues on walls, spaces, and fabrics. Active as an "Aisaishi" since 2019, his work can be found in homes, shops, and public spaces; he is also the founder of the Kote-Ai (Trowel Indigo) Association.

This collaboration isn't about printing an indigo pattern; it's about letting the fabric itself continue its journey through washing, sun exposure, and time. Each piece will develop its own unique, one-of-a-kind fading.
